Blind to the music

Description

I did this back when I did A LOT of paintings and listened to A LOT of music while doing it for inspiration.

I painted this right after a recital my friends did. All my home schooled friends had a band troop out in Sullivan called Kays. They learned how to play everything there and the only reason I never got involved in the classes is because the classes were at 8 in the morning and I lived in Hermann "an almost hour and a half drive, love my mom for driving me there so I could at least have a social life"

I went to the recital because I had spent the night at a friends house and she had to go perform the next day so I offered to go. I sat and listened and I almost started crying right there in the building, I listened to classical music all the time but never LIVE and I felt embarrassed and sad that all these kids the same age as me could read music and play beautifully where I never even got a single music lesson.

Mom saw how upset I was about it and she vowed to make it better. Painting this helped but the one year of piano lessons helped even more, sure I can't play flight of the bumblebee or anything but I can at least read music and that was my main goal. :)

The black blotches that are on the painting happened by accident and I was pissed at first about it cause this painting shows a some what small but important part in my life then I realized it was a happy accident. The black blotches kind of break the fourth wall by making it look like I actually use music notes as a medium. Neat huh ;)
